When very close friends were expecting their first baby we knew we wanted to shower them with photos of these special moments. We have done weddings, documentary and event photos, we do tourisic tours but the approach can be quite different. It is a celebration non the less but there is something intimate and cozy to pregnancy and baby photos that makes them unique.
With this in mind and trying to decide the perfect moment for the photos I could not stop thinking about the scandinavian term Hygge (pronounced hue-gah) that Danish word that's been allover the web and that is described as a feeling or mood that comes of taking genuine pleasure in making ordinary, every day moments more meaningful or special. While there’s no one English word to describe hygge, several can be used interchangeably to describe the idea of hygge such as cosiness, charm, happiness, contentness, security, familiarity, comfort, reassurance, kinship, and simpleness.
The pictures include textures, props to keep warm, natural materials, attention to details, and all the love we were feeling as we celebrated Sofia's life with Hygge in being present enough to recognize and acknowledge an act, moment or feeling when the ordinary feels extraordinary. Hello Sofia!
